A BIT ABOUT US
What We’re All About
We are a father and son team that has had a passion for 4x4’s since we bought our first Landcruiser a decade ago and got stuck in a bog on the first day of ownership (and learnt quickly that off-road tyres – or in this case, the lack thereof – makes all the difference!). A few years later we undertook a solo and fully self-sufficient trans-Pyrenees tour where the off-road bug really bit us (literally and figuratively). Having learnt further from that experience, we spent the next few years experimenting with the art and science of modifying classic Toyota Land Cruisers to get to the point where we had the ultimate off-road machine to maximise the enjoyment of the many trips we have undertaken since then.
Our recipe is as follows: We pick the best base vehicles for our projects and start with a full restoration by firstly cleaning the interior (including wet-foam washing the seats and carpets), then we strip down the entire underside by hand of any lose paint and rust and fully repaint it with tough Hammerite paint. We then work with a specialised partner with whom we have formed a relationship over may years to get the exterior professionally resprayed with industrial Raptor paint to provide a tough, scratch resistant finish which is rough to the touch and provides our Land Cruisers with a unique and head turning look (I have been stopped countless times at the side of the road by people being asked, “What is this awesomeness you are driving?” while they run their hands over the textured finish ). From there we start to add the various modifications – snorkel, roof racks, winches, suspension lifts, off-road tyres, LED lighting, roof tents, camping accessories and so on.
We build these cars for our personal use and have taken our Land Cruisers on multi-week off road expeditions, living in, on and around them during this time in some of the harshest off-road conditions on the planet and not once have they let us down (well actually, once we had a major electrical failure and the engine died and all the lights went on on the dashboard and we were left stranded in the middle of a desert in Africa with no mobile coverage and limited water and a sandstorm had just enveloped us. We thought we were toast as we lifted the bonnet in trepidation trying to figure out what went wrong. Turns out one of the battery terminals had vibrated loose on the rough terrain and shorted on the engine block. We scavenged a non-essential bolt elsewhere off the engine bay and completed the repair and were on our way again in under 10 mins. And *that* is why we only trust Land Cruisers to get us to the ends of the earth. As the saying goes: “If you want to go anywhere on the planet, take a Land Rover. If you want to come back, take a Land Cruiser )
Because this is a hobby for us and we work privately in our spare time and each vehicle can take months to complete depending on the modifications, we have a very limited annual capacity so please bear that in mind. Do take a tour through our site to see some of our work and get in touch if you are interested in one of our upcoming projects.
